Chapter 4: Wrong Room(1 / 2)

"Okay!" As soon as she heard that her mom was missing, she quickly grabbed her phone to make a call, her anxiety mounting.

Her parents frequently fought, and her mom stormed out of the house each time they did.

In the past, her mom would let her know in advance where she was going, but this time there was no word.

It was so late – where could her mom be? At that moment, the sound of a phone call was heard, but the phone was not answered.

Her aunt, however, noticed the young man following her. "Lingling, is this your boyfriend? Why don''t you introduce him to me?"

"Aunt, he''s not my boyfriend. He''s just a schoolmate. Can''t I have a male friend? It''s embarrassing when you say things like that! How am I supposed to interact with the opposite sex in the future? We''re in the 21st century. Please don''t treat me like a woman from a bygone era!" She hung up the phone, intending to call back later, and first dealt with the immediate issue.

Her parents’ relationship had been strained for some time, but now she absolutely couldn''t let her aunt mistakenly think she had a boyfriend.

She bowed apologetically to the young man, "I''m sorry for troubling you today. I have some family matters to attend to. We can discuss our teacher''s paper later once I''ve sorted things out."

"Okay!" He courteously greeted them both and then left.

"Lingling, if you have a boyfriend, everyone would be happy for you. Just don''t keep it a secret! You''re always studying, but sometimes you need us elders to help you choose the right person. We might not have read as many books or achieved the grades you have, but we''ve lived longer and have more life experience than you."

"Aunt, please don''t jump to conclusions. I told you he''s not my boyfriend. There are plenty of male classmates at school. I
